Cyber Startup
Sr. Software Engineer
About the company
At Fitted, we help startups build teams that truly fit their product, culture, and stage.
We’re currently working with a remote early-stage cybersecurity startup building a new way to operate Cloud Security.
Cybersecurity is fundamentally broken, and the team is rethinking how security operations should work from the ground up. The company is led by an experienced founder (ex-Fortune 500 security leader), backed by leading VCs, and already working with large enterprise clients.
This is a foundational stage, with a small, highly technical team where every hire has a direct impact on product, architecture, and company trajectory.
You’ll join a small, talent-dense team, working closely with the founder in an async-first environment, using modern tools and technologies, with full visibility and direct impact on the product and its evolution.
About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help build the core systems behind a new generation of cloud security operations.
This is a backend-heavy, systems-oriented role, focused on building distributed systems, data pipelines, and integrations with external platforms — while also contributing to product decisions and end-to-end ownership.
This is not a role limited to a specific layer of the stack — you’ll be expected to own problems across infrastructure, backend, product, and data, and help shape how the system evolves from an early-stage foundation into a scalable platform.
What you'll do
-
Architect and develop robust backend services that integrate with various security tools and platforms
-
Build and maintain distributed systems and asynchronous data pipelines that process and enrich security data, using proprietary algorithms and third-party APIs
-
Operate across the stack when needed (infra, backend, product), depending on priorities
-
Participate in improving system reliability, observability, and overall performance
-
Drive product development by understanding customer needs, navigating ambiguity, and prioritising scope reduction over cutting corners in a fast-paced environment
-
Learn how cybersecurity works, engage with security experts, and brainstorm innovative solutions
Who you are
Must-haves:
-
5+ years of experience in product engineering with a track record of writing and supporting production services
-
Strong experience with TypeScript and its ecosystem
-
Proven experience developing data-heavy integrations with third parties
-
Solid understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and failure handling
-
Experience with observability, debugging, and cloud-based environments
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders
-
Comfortable taking ownership across different parts of the stack in an early-stage environment
-
No “brilliant jerks” allowed. We're looking for good team players
Nice-to-have:
-
Knowledge of Golang, Kotlin, and/or Python is a plus
-
Experience in startup environments, or clear evidence that you thrive with ambiguity and ownership
-
Exposure to cybersecurity, cloud security, or security tooling
What's in it for you
-
Fully remote (within UTC ±3)
-
Competitive salary (80k-120k Gross per year) and equity in a fast-growing company
-
20 days of annual leave + local holidays
-
Quarterly offsites across Europe (team meetups, hackathons, deep work sessions)
-
High ownership role in a talent-dense founding team
-
Opportunities to expand into data science, security research, and other specialised areas
This role is designed for engineers who want to own problems end-to-end, operate with high autonomy, and work in a demanding, high-context environment. It may not be a fit if you’re looking for clearly defined scope, structured processes, or a slower-paced environment.
If you're a talented, ambitious product person like we are, and is excited by the prospect of building something industry-defining, we'd love to hear from you!
